Introducing Marcus: Goldman Sachs' groundbreaking venture into consumer banking. Inspired by founder Marcus Goldman's legacy, the Marcus digital banking platform bridges consumers with financial products and tools, leveraging Goldman Sachs' history of financial expertise.
Our team led the launch of this personalized banking experience as a web-based solution, accessible across various personal devices. From account setup to goal tracking and loan management, the dashboard empowers users by consolidating savings, CD, and loan information into one flexible, user-friendly interface.
The multi-product platform, which operated without traditional brick-and-mortar branches, aimed to build a large, differentiated, and profitable digital consumer platform.
Our dedication to excellence was recognized through numerous accolades, including multiple top awards and a prestigious 5-star rating from CreditKarma.

Over 100,000 customers were researched through quantitative and qualitative surveys, focus groups, and 1:1 interviews. The research revealed that consumers felt overwhelmed and as if they didn't have control over their financial lives. Four principles emerged to address their pain points, which we used in the product design.

Our own team also conducted user research in the form of “co-creation sessions” at the start of the project.
In groups of 4-5 we demonstrated key moments in the product journey and encouraged participants to voice their opinions and sketch ideas in response to the stimuli.
In this example we were questioning whether users prefer to search for products in a way similar to eCommerce or through a conversational interface and used this to inform our decision-making.

We developed standardized account activity templates to maintain consistency across multiple products. They allowed customers to access various actions and details, including monthly statements, tax documents, transaction filtering, and personalized GS advice. Subtle, intuitive animations elevated these moments within the pages and differentiated itself from archaic banking experiences.
